Capture full Syslog about the USB Modem

If the Vigor router cannot detect nor recognize the USB dongle, it will be helpful for us to have the complete Syslog of the USB WAN to troubleshoot. This document is going to describe how you can collect the full Syslog and help us improve compatibility.

Please notice the physical mode on WAN, go to WAN>>General setup, click the index, select USB for physical mode, and then go to WAN>>Internet Access, there are two options of Access mode, PPP mode and DHCP mode. Both of the two access mode's Syslogs are important for troubleshooting, please make sure to capture the Syslog with both of two modes.

Please refer to Collecting router's Syslog and use Syslog Utility (download the tool at Products > DrayTek Utility) to collect Syslog. The Syslog about USB modem will be categorized in "WAN". When the dongle is plugged into router's USB port, you will see the below messages in Syslog:

usb 2-1: new high speed USB device using ifxusb_hcd and address 6#
usb 2-1: New USB device found, idVendor=12d1, idProduct=1f01#
