The configuration below will automatically put IP Phones or any device defined by MAC address prefix into a separate VLAN. The switch will accept connections from any other device and put in default non-tagged Vlan. Uplink Trunk ports connecting to a Router or other switch accepting trunk ports are also shown.
1. Create VLAN used for VoIP (i.e. 20)
Switch LAN > VLAN Management > Create VLAN >Create VLAN
2. Define Ports where phones are to be connected as Hybrid.
(i.e. ports 1 to 8: Untagged VLAN=1, Tagged VLAN=20)
Switch LAN > VLAN Management > Interface Settings > Interface Settings
Verify configuration down in that same page:
3. Define the ports to be used as Uplink (to the router or other switches) as Trunk ports.
(i.e. port 25-26)
Switch LAN > VLAN Management > Interface Settings > Interface Settings
Verify configuration down in that same page:
4. Define Groups containing MACs from Vendors to be automatically set for VLAN
(i.e. Group ID 20 popular IP phone vendors)
Switch LAN > VLAN Management > MAC VLAN > MAC Group
5. Bind Group to Vlan
(i.e. Group 20 assign VLAN 20)
Switch LAN > VLAN Management > MAC VLAN > Group Binding
6. Connect devices and verify
Switch LAN > MAC Address Table > Dynamic Learned
7. OPTIONAL. Set max number of MACs per port.
Security > Port Security > Port Security
To avoid rogue devices and want to prevent misuse of ports. Set Port to only accept 1 MAC (if only phone will be connected) or 2 MACs if PC will be connected to the phone PC port.
