User Management with local user database

This article demonstrates how to use User Management restrict Internet access to the authorized user only and authenticate the users with the router's local user database.

1. First, go to User Management >> General Setup and make sure the mode is set to "User-Based."

2. We need to create user profiles and let the LAN clients log in with their unique username and password for Internet access. Go to User Management >> User Profile and click an index number to add a new profile.

3. Edit the new profile as follows:

  1. Enable this account
  2. Enter username, password and confirm the password
  3. Make sure "Web" is enabled in Authentication
  4. Click OK to save

Now, every time the LAN clients attempts to access the Internet, they will be redirected to the login page. They will need to log in with the username and password created in step 3. Only after login successfully, can they surf on the Internet.

After logged-in successfully, a pop-up dialog will show the username, time, and data quota.

If we enable the display option on the User Management >> General Setup page, the pop-up login window will also show the user's IP address.

Replace the Logo on the login page

We can also customize the login page logo on the User Management >> General Setup.

There are three options, including default, blank, and upload a file.
