How to disable isolation for wireless network with different SSID between 2.4G and 5G ?

DrayTek's dual-band access points, such as the VigorAP 910c, 900 and 902, support both 2.4G and 5 GHz bands and multiple SSIDs to deliver the best wireless networking experience. One of the many security features that these access points provide is SSID isolation, so the communication is always blocked between wireless clients on SSIDs with names that are within the same band, even though in the same subnet.

However, if the SSIDs are on different bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), communication can be allowed by simply disable the setting Isolate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands on the Advanced Setting page. Please refer to the image and the examples below for details.

Note: Wireless clients connected to SSIDs between 2.4G and 5G that are named identically are allowed to communicate with one another.

To allow communication between clients on different bands, simply disable the Isolate 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands setting in the Wireless LAN>> Advanced Setup page, as illustrated below. Note clients on different SSIDs within the same band are always barred from communicating with one another.

For exmaple:
Case 1:  Isolate 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands enabled.

  1. SSID on 2.4G and 5G are named identically
Client in 2.4G and 5G are able to communicate with one another.
  2.  2.4G and 5G have different SSID name
Client in 2.4G and 5G are not able to communicate with one another.

Case 2:  Isolate 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands disabled.

  1. SSID on 2.4G and 5G are named identically
Client in 2.4G and 5G are able to communicate with one another.
  2.  2.4G and 5G have different SSID name
Client in 2.4G and 5G are able to communicate with one another.
