VPN connection between Vigor Router and Cisco RV series - IPsec

This application note demonstrates how to establish IPsec VPN tunnel between Vigor router and Cisco RV router by the following topology.

   

(This setup applies to most of the models. For Vigor3900 and Vigor2960, please refer to the article here.)

 

Cisco RV router setting

1. Go to VPN >> Gateway to Gateway,

  1. Select Interface for VPN connection
  2. Select IKE with Preshared key as Keying Mode
  3. Enter VPN network of Cisco in IP Address and Subnet Mask in Local Group Setup
   

      d. Select and enter Vigor router's WAN IP in Remote Security Gateway

      e. Enter VPN network of Vigor router in IP Address and Subnet Mask in Remote Group Setup

      f. IPSec Setup is flexible, as long as configuration of both routers matche, here we use AES256_SHA1_G5 for IKE phase1, and AES256_SHA1 for IKE phase2, without Perfect Forward Secret, and Preshared Key is 12345678

   

 

 

Vigor Router Setting

2. Go to VPN and Remote Access >> LAN to LAN, and click an available index,

  1. Give Profile Name
  2. Enable the profile
  3. Select Dial-Out as Call Direction
   

      d. Select IPsec in Dial-Out Settings

      e. Enter WAN IP or domain of Cisco in Server IP/Host Name

      f. Enter Preshared Key

      g. Select High(ESP), AES with authentication in IPsec Security Method

   

      h. Click Advanced

      i. Select the proposal to match the setting on Cisco router

   

      j. Enter VPN network of Cisco in Remote IP/Mask in TCP/IP Network Settings

      k. Click OK

   

Go to VPN and Remote Access >> Connect Management page,

  1. Select the IPsec profile
  2. Click Dial
   

After VPN is connected successfully, we can see the connection status below.
