Support Model : Vigor3900Vigor2960Vigor300B

Vigor Router can send the email to notify the network administrator when encounters some circumstances, including:

  • WAN disconnect / reconnect
  • VPN disconnect / reconnect
  • Temperature Alert, when the value of attached thermometer out of setting range
  • Router reboot
  • CPU usage
  • Memory usage
  • Transmit (Tx) usage
  • Receive (Rx) usage
  • High Availability, when the WAN of primary router failed and the secondary router take over, configuration sync between primary and secondary router fail, and one of the routers becomes unstable
  • Syslog, to send the all syslog or alert only

We take WAN disconnect and reconnect for example in the following paragraphs.

(This setup applies to Vigor3900, Vigor2960, and Vigro300B. For other models, please refer to the article here)

1. Go to Object Setting >> Mail Service Object page to create the Mail Server Object.

  1. Click the Add button.

  3. Enter the Profile name, Mail From address, SMTP Port, and SMTP Server address.

Note: About the SMTP Port, port 25 is used for unencrypted mail server, port 587 for TLS mail server, and port 465 for SSL mail server. The Mail From address is not required to be a real and eligible email address, and users may imagine any kind of email address without actually registering a new account for alert mail.

  1. Click the Add button.
  2. Enter the Profile name.
  3. Check Enable to choose the alert service. In this example, we enable WAN Disconnection and WAN Reconnection.

3. Go to Applications >> SMS/Mail Alert Service >> Mail Alert Service page to set the Mail Alert Service.

  1. Click the Edit button.
  2. Check Enable This Profile.
  3. Choose the profile we just created as Mail Profile and Notify Profile, and enter the Recipient address.

4. Router will keep monitoring the WAN port connection status. If any event occurs, it will send a notification mail to the recipient.
