The Difference between Service and Customer WAN VLAN Tag Insertion

The use of VLAN Tag insertion mainly facilitates the effectiveness of network management. This is one of the features supported by Vigor router for long time. Recently, some lately published models including: Vigor2862 and Vigor2926 are supporting a new type of VLAN tag called QinQ. To support this unique application, Vigor router extended the VLAN insertion feature with Service and Customer options on these lately published models.

Customer type is same as what Vigor Router supported before whereas the Service type is the new one and can be used when the ISP require QinQ packets. This document describes the differences between Service Tag and Customer Tag, and when to use them accordingly.
