Q.
How to implement your wireless security ?
-Change and hide router's SSID-
The wireless client should scan AP before launching a connection.
If you don't like exposing your AP's SSID to anybody, please
enable "Hide SSID" option in your AP. Your
neighbors also can use the default SSID to try to login your
AP, so we strongly suggest you should change the default SSID.
It can also avoid making some mistakes if your neighbors also
use the same default SSID.
-Enable Access Control by MAC address-
You can enable control by MAC address. It can avoid your neighbors
to access your AP without permission.
-Enable WEP-
WEP isn't a good solution, but it increase some efforts if
someone want to attack your AP.
-Enable WPA (Vigor2600G and above models only)-
Current WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) is a good WLAN security
solution and intended to release WEP.
-Enable 802.1x-
If you have more than one APs, It's an unpleasant task to
setup the settings of authentication in each AP. You can add
a RADIUS server in your network to facilitate the work. Please
refer to the link here
for detailed information to set up the 802.1x authentication.
-VPN over Wireless LAN (Vigor2600W/We only)-
You also can make a VPN connection over wireless LAN. Please
refer to the link here
for detailed information to setup the VPN over Wireless LAN.
