Q. What
is WPA ?
Wi-Fi Protected Access ( WPA ) is an interim
solution to IEEE 802.11i. It is designed to improve the security
features of WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy), and the major
improvement is as follows:
- Enhance user authentication through EAP/802.1x or PSK.
- Strongly improve data encryption via Temporal Key Integrity
Protocol ( TKIP ). TKIP has a per-packet
key mixing function based on a temporal key ( TK ),
128 bits, transmitter address ( TA ) and
TSC. And, there is an integrity-checking feature - MIC to
ensure that the data has not been tampered with. |
