Mail Alert
The "Mail Alert" feature of Vigor router is used to notify the user that the router is suffering
from DoS attacking or to disclose which websites the internal users are visiting but blocking by URL fitler rules and etc.
So if you want to receive the DoS attack information, please refer to the following picture to enable the "DoS defense"
feature before you configure the "Mail Alert" feature.
If you want to receive the URL Access Log information, please refer to the following picture to enable the "URL Access
Log" feature before you configure the "Mail Alert" feature.
Then you may refer to the following picture to configure the "Mail Alert" feature.
SMTP Server : Please input the IP address of SMTP server which you use to send the alert mail here.
Note : You only can input the IP address of your SMTP server it in the "SMTP Server"
item, you can't input domain name of SMTP server directly here for the moment. You may refer to the
following method to use "nslookup" command to get the IP address of your SMTP server.
Mail To : Please input the email address which will receive the alert mail here.
Return-Path : Specify an email address of another mailbox to receive all returned messages if some fatal problems occur at the recipient mailbox.
The email address typed in this field also acts as Sender address while Vigor router sends out the alter e-mails.
Authentication : If the SMTP server which you configured need user authentication, please enable it and input the relevant user name and password in the following items.
User Name : Please input the authentication user name of SMTP server.
Password : Please input the authentication password of SMTP server.
Note : There are some Free SMTP servers without authentication in Internet, if you input them in the "SMTP Server" item, you needn’t enable the Authentication item and configure the User name and password.
After the above the settings, you will receive the alert email (including DoS attack and URL Access Log) periodically. If you keep the Return-Path item blank, you will receive the following alert email. The "Sender" item of alert email will display "MAILER-DAEMON".
Note : If you configure the "Black List" feature at the page of "URL Content Filter Profile" and some internal users are trying to visit the websites, you'll find the relevant records just like "CF keyword Block 172.17.1.21,38096 -> www.google-analytics.com,80 PR tcp len 20 861 -PA -1618639177 -479936808".
If you configure the Return-Path item, you will receive the following alert email. The "Sender" item of alert mail will display the mail box which you configured in "Return-Path item".
