What is Bind IP to
MAC ?
The function Bind IP to MAC can strictly control LAN hosts, prevent users in the LAN from changing their IP addresses to obtain illegal authority, which may cause IP conflict.
There are following two modes for Bind IP to MAC.
- Normal mode:
Block IP not match the binding MAC
The IP not in the binding list can pass through
- Strict mode:
Only allow the IP in the binding list
Assuming there are 4 users in your local LAN. In the Vigor router User A and User D are added in the IP-MAC binding list. User B and User C are not contained in that list. (see figure shown below)
In Normal mode:
User A and User D can access the Internet through the Vigor
router for their IP-MAC are in the binding table.
User B can't access the Internet for the IP address 172.17.1.4
has been binded to the MAC address of User A.
1. Click Refresh to list the ARP info of the devices in the Local LAN, which is taken from the router?s ARP cache.
2. Select the entries of "172.17.1.4" and "172.17.1.17" from the ARP Table and press Add button to move them to the IP Bind List on the right.
3. Select "Enable" and press OK button to apply the configuration.
In Strict mode:
Only the user whose IP-MAC entry is in the binding table can be passed through the Vigor router. So User A and User B can access the Internet.
1. Enter the MAC address and desired IP allocation manually in the box on the bottom left.
2. Select "Enable" and press OK button to apply the configuration.
